Important Canine and Feline Boarding Information

Hanover Veterinary Hospital is happy to board all canine and feline pets, even if they aren’t our regular patients. Before planning your pet’s stay, please note the following important information:

Dogs must be up-to-date on rabies, distemper, and Bordetella vaccines before boarding. The canine influenza vaccine is also recommended, though not required.

Cats must be up-to-date on their rabies and feline distemper vaccines.

All cats and dogs must test negative for intestinal parasites via a fecal exam within 12 months of their stay to be admitted, and they must be flea-free. We recommend all boarding pets be on a flea preventative.

If your pet is overdue for certain vaccinations, we can vaccinate them at drop-off to bring them up to date.

Medication can be dispensed to pets with ongoing medical issues during their stay at no additional charge.

Items from home are permitted for your pet's comfort.

We Offer Bird Boarding

Does Polly need a place to stay too? We proudly offer boarding for your avian friends, along with cats and dogs.

To board your bird with us, they must be dropped off in their cage with all necessary supplies, including food, medication, and toys. Bird cages are kept in employee areas of our Cedar Lake hospital, including the employee lounge and reception area, to ensure social interaction. Birds are monitored by our kennel staff and cared for according to your instructions. For safety reasons, birds are not permitted outside of their cages while boarding.
