Amy Allen

Amy Allen

Amy has been drawn to animals and animal care since she was a child, which prompted her mom's warning of “Do Not Bring Any Animals Home” whenever she left the house. Amy started at Hanover Veterinary Hospital in June of 1997 as a Veterinary Assistant, Kennel Attendant, and Receptionist. She earned her Registered Veterinary Technician degree from Purdue in 2001. Amy’s favorite part of working in the veterinary field is being able to calm and comfort fearful or sick pets, as well as caring for surgery patients post-op. In her free time, Amy loves spending time with her family and pets, riding motorcycles with her husband, volunteering at a wildlife rescue and rehab, reading, and enjoying nature.

Melvina Ransome

Hi, my name is Melvina, but the guys here call me Mel. I'm one of the old G's here. I have been in vet med for 25 years and love every minute of it. I take great pride in helping animals and their owners. My passion for this started at five years old when I nursed a wounded kitten back to health with the help of my mom, and I still continue to this day.

April Knaak

Hi, my name is April, and I grew up on a farm where my love and passion for animals all began. I’ve worked in vet med for over 35 years, but my true passion is orthopedics. I enjoy training and encouraging the younger generation in all aspects of vet medicine. I’ve owned and trained dogs for almost my entire life. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my animals and family. I also recently started performing home pet euthanasias with a fellow doctor to provide comfort, respect, and peace to the pets and owners who deserve it.

Wiebke Charles

Hi, my name is Wiebke. I am a vet technician from Germany, and this is my 40th year in vet med. I started in animal husbandry (sheep, goats, pigs, etc.), and at the same time, I began attending vet tech school. I worked at the University of Lübeck, which I graduated from after five years. Next, I worked at a local hospital until I got married and had my son, Phil. When my son was old enough, I returned to work at another animal hospital and met my second husband, Chad. We then moved to India, where I performed TNR (Trap, Neuter, Release) for 3 ½ years. Afterward, we moved to the USA, where I had to learn English. It wasn’t easy, but I was determined. I then started at Crown Point Animal Hospital and began working at Hanover Veterinary Hospital in 2012, where I have grown within my role. I now live in Crown Point with my husband, Chad, my 4-year-old coonhound, Meg, and my 19-year-old cat, Connie. I am a huge hound lover and have owned bloodhounds and beagles. Outside of work, I enjoy being a mother, stepmother, and grandmother to five wonderful grandkids.
